FIFA, Trump and Club World Cup

FIFA boss Gianni Infantino has forged strong links with Trump as the U.S. is hosting this summer's Club World Cup.
FIFA has opened an office in Trump Tower in New York City, the organization's president Gianna Infantino announced this week, in the latest sign of deepening ties between soccer's governing body and President Trump before the U.S. hosts next year's World Cup.
The President's attendance of the FIFA Club World Cup final is the latest in a string of high-profile sports-related trips in his second term.
Trump Tower has served as the home base for FIFA officials in the past. Notorious former Concacaf general secretary Chuck Blazer — who served as a key informant in the U.S. government case that took down Infantino’s predecessor Sepp Blatter — had two apartments at the building: one for him, and one for his cats.
World football governing body FIFA has boosted its ties with U.S. President Donald Trump by opening an office in New York’s Trump Tower. The move comes a year ahead of the men’s World Cup — which is being hosted across North America — and a year after FIFA opened an office in Miami.
