A crucial breakthrough came as agents involved agreed to reduce their commission from Sporting from 10 per cent. Romano reports that Arsenal will pay the player’s agent some of that commission instead of Sporting, which will make the final deal for Gyokeres a little higher than the transfer fee suggests.

Gyokeres has already agreed personal terms on a five-year deal and has been awaiting a club-to-club agreement. He is now expected to join Arsenal in a deal worth €63.5million (£54.86m), with a further €10m (£8.64) in add-ons.

Arsenal are in the process of completing a deal to sign Viktor Gyokeres after taking final steps in negotiations with Sporting CP for the striker. Talks have been prolonged by Sporting president Frederico Varandas refusing to accept what Gyokeres believes was an agreement to leave this summer for €60million plus €10m of add-ons.
