El Paso Mayor Renard Johnson expressed condolences following the Tuesday, July 8, flash flood in Ruidoso that killed three people, including two children from a Fort Bliss family.

The Governor of New Mexico has signed an emergency declaration asking help from the federal government for help as Ruidoso deals with flooding.

Severe thunderstorms will head east by Saturday, impacting eastern Michigan and parts of northern Indiana. Rain from 1 to 2 inches is possible as the system tracks east, but some areas could see isolated amounts of 3 to 5 inches through the weekend.

The flash flood emergency was declared about 3 p.m. on Tuesday by the National Weather Service in Albuquerque.
