Sankey addressed several hot-button issues during his state-of-the-conference address Monday at SEC media days in Atlanta.
As the third day of 2025 SEC Media Days got under way Wednesday, commissioner Greg Sankey acknowledged a “fumble” with a team’s fight song the previous day.
The two leagues have yet to agree on the College Football Playoff format after this coming season and could leave it at 12 teams.
The two titan conferences of college football will ultimately decide how the College Football Playoff will evolve — or won't.
Sankey said Playoff expansion is not a done deal, and it appears the SEC and Big Ten disagree on a preferred 16-team format.
"The freakout factor [in college sports] is a little bit high," Greg Sankey said at Atlanta's SEC Media Days.
