R ap group Kneecap were "placed in a higher category of risk" than Bob Vylan by the BBC, prior to its coverage of the Glastonbury festival, according to a letter from the corporation's director general Tim Davie to a committee of MPs.

Weeks on from their Glastonbury set, Bob Vylan are still facing backlash for their controversial chanting of ‘death to the IDF’. The chant, amid others supporting Palestine, has become the focal point of a political storm, with an investigation by the police as well as Glastonbury and the BBC condemning their performance.

While performing at Glastonbury last month, the London punk-rap duo led the crowd in a chant of “death, death, death to the IDF.” Since then, the group has been pilloried in the UK press, and they’ve been subjected to a number of career setbacks.
