The Israeli army said it struck near the entrance to the Syrian Ministry of Defense in Damascus. The strike Wednesday came as clashes continued in the southern Syrian city of Sweida after a ceasefire between government forces and Druze armed groups collapsed.

Syria’s Defense Ministry blamed the renewed hostilities on militias in Sweida, accusing them of violating the ceasefire agreed upon on Tuesday.

Israeli military said on Wednesday it had attacked the entrance gate of the Syrian military headquarters in the capital Damascus. Two Syrian security sources told Reuters an Israeli strike had hit the defence ministry in the capital.
